About us
Why Mein MwSt-Rechner exists
Mein MwSt-Rechner was built to give freelancers, the self-employed and small businesses in Germany a fast, free and privacy-friendly way to calculate VAT and create invoices in line with § 14 UStG – with no signup, no tracking and no cookies.
Every calculator runs directly in your browser, and the invoice generator produces a clean PDF you can download instantly. The goal is simple: to take a small but constantly recurring part of the administrative burden of running a business in Germany off your plate – in a way that keeps your data protected.
Who is behind it
We think you should always know who is behind a tool you rely on – especially when it concerns your finances. Mein MwSt-Rechner is not an anonymous website.
Mein MwSt-Rechner is operated by Azwedo, a web and software studio with more than twelve years of experience building digital products in technology and innovation. The studio is led by its founder Bardhyl Bytyqi, who has already built and shipped more than ten digital products and tools. You can find Bardhyl on X at @BardhylBytyqi.
We are a small, independent team and directly reachable – see the "Contact" section below as well as our Impressum for the legal details about the operator.
How we keep the content accurate and up to date
Because decisions about VAT and invoicing involve real money, we take the accuracy of our calculators and guides seriously. Here is how we go about it:
- Current German law. Our calculators reflect the VAT rates that apply in Germany – the standard rate of 19 %, the reduced rate of 7 % and tax-free cases at 0 %. The content is adapted to the rules currently in force. For example, it accounts for the return to the 19 % rate on restaurant meals (eaten on the premises) after the temporarily reduced rate expired on 31 December 2023, as well as the rates that apply for 2026.
- Official sources. Our content is based on the German VAT Act (Umsatzsteuergesetz, UStG) and other official sources. Where relevant, we link directly to the law – for example to § 14 UStG on the mandatory details of an invoice – so you can check it yourself instead of having to take our word for it.
- Updates when the law changes. Tax rules in Germany change – and when they do, we update the affected calculators and articles. Our guides carry a "last reviewed" date so you can tell at a glance how current the information is.
- Honesty about scope. Our tools and guides provide general information to help you calculate VAT and create invoices. They are not a substitute for individual tax advice. For your specific situation, please consult a tax advisor.
Who creates the content
Our guides are created by Bardhyl Bytyqi and Armend Bajrami – based on hands-on, first-hand experience of running a business as well as invoicing and VAT in everyday business life.
